Making templates

A little update... I have made a template for the pillow on a canvas, pinned the borders down, and will sew  the middle part with contrasting yarn unto the canvas. (pinning it won't do, it goes through&through, and my legs wouldn't like that:)

05. Russian Crochet  Pillow Cover Template
After that being done, i need to fill in the blanks. I'm really happy with the progress!

  1. Wow! What great work! I've always wanted to try this, but I've been afraid to work without a pattern. Can you explain how to join each piece?

    1. Thank you Sonya! I'll try to explain:) i spread the motifs on the sofa (or any other surface) make up mymmind where they should go, and crochet them with chains (mostly 3)from one to the other up and down back to the beginning motif. With open crochet like the pillow cover, i crochet a round of 1 dc and chain 3 around it, somit stands out more onmits own. The connection then is made from the middle chain to the middle chain of the next motif and vice versa. Bigger gaps are filled with double crochet or triple crochet, depending on the filling space, with 3 or more chains between them. Hope this helps:)
